Out to Danshui

On Mid-Autumn day, I went with a group of people down to Dan-shui.

We haven't even arrived and the ladies already have fallen asleep. (from right to left: Yesan, Cheng Ping, Mei juan WAKE UP!!!)

Arrived at Dan-Shui MRT.

This is a very historical site, the five flags represent the five countries that controlled Taiwan since the 1800's . In order Spain - 1626 to 1642 , Portugal , Dutch - 1624 to 1666, Britain, Japan 1895 to 1945, can't remember which flag that is, the United States, then finally Taiwan became its current state.

The view from the top of the mountain. A nice view of Bali Township (a small port city).

And here is Fort Santo Domingo, first a wooden fort constructed by the Spanish in 1636. Then it was reconstructed by the Dutch in 1644 as it stands now.

The consulate house., really big.

Modern kitchen stove of those days, wood fed.

This room within the consulates house was set with a Japanese colonization era theme. Notice the statue on the mantel (hint, the statue has a katana sword). During the 1800's japan was still emulating western customs, a trend initially interrupted by the Shogun in 1609.

Another shot of the "Japanese" room. You can see the fusion of Japanese and Spanish furniture.

Two pic's of the "Spanish" room.

Some pictures of the fort/ consulate in bygone times.

Canon's from the 17th century.

After viewing the fort / consulate, we headed to the night market.

The group purchased Danshui's all famous boiled egg's.

Brown noodle's with bean sprouts and ground beef.

Meat ball soup.

We also ate Danshui's signiture food. Sorry I forgot the exact names of the dish's.

Outside photo of the restaurant.

Random picture of a restaurant at the pier.
