Today my dorm guide - Yu-Wei (whom has been extremely helpful in smoothing my adjusting to Taipei. Thank you so very much) took me around town. First we stopped by the "computer district". I have no clue where it is or how exactly we got there. But we started by getting on the MRT via the Technology Building station.
The Station is not to far from my dorm, a good 5-8 min walk.
Arriving at the "computer building" I found that it was 5 levels high of computers and camera's. Every shop was stuffed from floor to ceiling of computers, parts, and accessories.
Just outside of the "computer building", were additional shops full of...what else but computers.
Notice: If you come to Taipei thinking it would be cheaper to purchase a laptop here, think again. The only difference between Taipei and the States is that laptops come with 3 yr warranties and an option to purchase without OS. So you install your OS of choice, the manufacturer has the website with all drivers even for the almost dead XP operating system.
Yup, it's Taipei 101 the building is so huge you can see it from everywhere in Taipei. It always looks much closer then it actually is.
Here's my dorm guide (I would say he's my full fledged friend now) Yu- Wei or AKA Allen. Yup Allen's in the House!!! hehe
I don't like taking pic's of myself but ehh...just to prove I didn't rip the photo's from some other site.
Stores stores and more stores galore. So many exclusive stores I have never heard of most of the names.
The top levels had many fine dinning and expensive restaurants with (literally) red carpets. The basement of 101 has the food courts for the regular folk. (McDonald being most popular).
At the bottom of 101 there is a super market. Everything is pretty top notch but expensive. This is the first for me seeing vacuum sealed corn for NT $109 ~ $3.41 ea. Yea this is ridiculous when you can get this for NT $10 ~ $0.31 USD at a local fruit/veggie stand.
I put this up because as many already know Takeshi Kaneshiro is the man, and the main model for Emporio Armani.
I saw some really nice Alain Mikli Starck frames for roughly $530.00 USD. Was close to buying but found them for $220.00 USD. Still too rich for my blood.
(Yes yes I need new shoes)
Some shoots of surrounding buildings etc.
Really close by was another smaller mall with a movie theater. I think it was called vision...somethine. Well eh, it had an interesting sculpture on display.
Next to the mall were beauties promoting a new Samsung line of cell phones. Some people were able to get free phones.
That pretty much does it for me (dang my feet hurt a ton), need to do homework for tomorrow which is first day of class. I can't wait!!! Having a language barrier in Taipei sucks....
